Questions, Answered.

What is the Phantom designed for
For years, military and law enforcement marksmen and snipers have trusted the Phantom as their go-to pack for rifle carry and kit. The Phantom is built around durability, modularity, and purpose-built features for professionals in the field.
How does the patented back scabbard work
The patented back scabbard lets a sniper carry their long gun into a shooting position while holding an M4 or carbine for closer security. The scabbard can be tucked away for a more streamlined setup, and it ships with a scabbard cover that protects the weapon and optics from dirt and debris.
What modular configurations does the Phantom support
The pack can be unzipped from the scabbard to simply carry a weapon on the back. The hip belt and shoulder harness can also be transferred from the scabbard portion to the pack itself, transforming the Phantom into a standalone Halftrack.
How is the Phantom organized
Deep saddlebag pockets on either side give quick access to smaller items. Inside the main compartment, you will find a hook-and-loop partition panel for separating items, a top lid pocket, a radio panel, elastic stuffed pockets, and plenty of MOLLE webbing for pouches and accessories.
What hydration and harness features does the Phantom include
The Phantom has a hydration hanger on either side, side carry handles, and quick-detach buckles on the shoulder harness for fast pack removal while wearing a plate carrier.
Does the Phantom come with a rain cover
Yes. An included stowable rainfly is housed in a zippered pocket under the pack for fast deployment when conditions turn.
What external compression and storage does the Phantom offer
Side compression straps secure additional gear externally, and the side compartments add organization and volume for gear that needs to stay readily available in the field.

Great bag

I'm happy with the G3 Phantom. I packed it well and it's a sturdy bag. I was messing around with the scabbard and fit both a Remington 870 shotgun and 30-30 lever action rifle in there together. It's a nice bag to have around. There's a velcro patch on it so I attached an infantry crossed rifles patch I have.

Utilitarian

Purchased primary for range days, elk hunting, hiking and PRS events. The main compartment has a lot of room. There are small pockets at the top of the main storage compartment on the sides, but very small as in barely big enough for a pistol magazine or a knife and not sure what they are for. It would not be easy to get a magazine in and out of them because they are so close to the top. There are storage pockets under a radio mesh screen that buckles. I'd prefer if it was removable from the bag. The external side pockets with buckled tops are cavernous with smaller compartments under them with elastic band top. One thing I really like is between the side pockets and the main bag are deep slots that run the entire side length of the bag. I can put a 25" tripod in it and secure it down with cinch straps. I've removed the scabbard because I see myself using that for elk hunting. The belt and shoulder harness are pretty comfortable, so far. One thing this bag doesn't lack are MOLLE straps. I've never seen so many on a bag. Only three things I've found that I would improve are those inside pockets and remove the radio mesh, include some MOLLE pouches for the cost of the G3 and provide an instruction book/video on how to operate this bag, lol! It is complex with a lot going on with buckets, straps, MOLLE, zippers, scabbards, compartments. I did buy the pack mount shooting rest and attached it to the MOLLE system on the main compartment flap. The G3 is very durable and extremely well made and research shows it has been in use by LEO and MIL snipers for a long time. I'm not using it for that, but it fits my needs.

Ultimate Range Bag and more!!!

Picked up this bag to use primarily as a range bag. I’ve been looking for and wanting a range bag that would hold a rifle, pistol other gear and work for multi gun/3gun comps and fit into a stroller for comps where that’s an option. Additionally, I wanted a bag that’d work for PRS type applications and provide versatility for other shooting activities. With this bag I can go to the range with everything I need in one bag including AR, pistol, mags ammo targets, etc…. One thing that was not clear on the web was that it didn’t include the aluminum frame. Had I known I would have added it to my order at the time of purchase but now I guess I’ll have to order it separately. Additionally, as I wanted to have my bag stand upright and have two seperate compartments I made a shelf with a ledge that integrates into the webbing and mates to the hook and loop on the already provided soft divider. Once configured I covered the rest in loop one wrap so that I could easily attach additional accessories and increase organization. This would be a great addition to the accessories offered for this bag! Overall very pleased - but would love to see and would have paid more if it were made in USA.

Amazing!

Absolutely amazing system. I’ve never had a real pack system. I bought this for my position on the SWAT team. I’m currently using it through my Sniper Course at GPSTC. So far the pack is holding my rifle and all of my gear including a shadow tech tripod and 3 rear sand bags. The pack distributes the weight nice and evenly across my shoulders and back.

Just awesome! Extremely well made and very well designed. 100% worth the price

I use this bag for two very different jobs. The first is Mule deer, Elk, and Moose hunting in British Columbia. The second is as a Medic bag in remote northern Canada.

As a hunting pack it is absolutely amazing. It works very well on long extended backpack hunts. The quality is far far above what I expected, and I bought it for the famous Eberlestock quality! The grab handles on the top and side are perfect for moving it around camp or passing to a buddy from a boat. They are positioned close to the body of the pack and tight enough that the whole bag doesn't become swinging dead weight as soon as you pick it up like it does with the shoulder straps. I love the deep side pockets for carrying a water bladder and as quick access to a thermal layer or rain jacket. The zippers, zipper pulls, clips and bag material are all sturdy as hell and the stitching is very robust. The rifle scabbard tucks nicely away inside itself so as not to be in the way when not in use and is easily to fold out when you want to store a rifle. It is a little time consuming to separate the bag from the scabbard/frame, but that is a trade I am more than happy to make for the durability and security of the system. The bag doesn't move or "flop" on your back even when moving over complicated and rough terrain. The load distribution is amazing and even with it being quite a heavy bag empty, it is unbelievably comfortable. It doesn't moan, groan or "squeak" like some of my other bags and even loaded with 75lbs of gear it is still comfortable. When I first got it I filled it with my wife cast iron and water bladders and went on a hike to test it out. It not only didn't complain it was a down right pleasant hike. The scabbard it large enough to handle my full length rifle with scope and sunshade and a stock that fits my 6'6" frame, but still folds away to be unobtrusive.
I added a set of hip belt bags to it to allow for storage of items that I may need to get to quickly(range finder ect.) and they mounted to the mole system on the belt nicely. They allow me to leave the bulk of the bag in camp and just cary my rifle in the scabbard and some essentials (snickers, nuts and water) with me for a quick morning hunt.
The front loading of the pack makes it perfect for a camp gear bag if you want to take it off and leave it in your tent. It also makes it very east to get to your equipment in the field without making a tonne of noise rummaging around in a bag from the top trying to dig stuff out of the bottom. The mole netting on the inside fo the opening flap is extremely convenient for clipping paracord, a knife, a first aid kit. anything that you may need to access but has a tendency to "settle" in a bag. The interior of the bag is divided into two main compartments by a barricade that is easily removable. The barricade helps keep weight evenly balanced in the pack by stoping items from settling to the bottom of the bag and keeps you organized for the same reason. The walls of the pack are lined with elastic pockets that also make organization a breeze.

The second use I have for the bag is as a Medic bag. I work a 6 month rotation in northern Canada and one of my roles is as a site medic. A lot of what we do is not road accessible and I am forced to carry everything that is needed in a OFA3 kit with me, along with a couple of other things. I have everything from wound/trama care to a full O2 kit and an AED. Normally these kits are in duffle bags and just live in a truck but I don't want to lug two 30lb duffle bags around through the bush. That is where my bag comes in. It keeps me exceptionally organized. Everything is in its place and stays there. It is comfortable to wear all day and the tall side pockets easily fit a O2 bottle and water. I have included pictures below to give an idea of what I pack around.

In summary it's comfortable, durable, stable, well designed, organized and I am planning on buying 4 more for other medics in our company.

There are only two cons that I can think of, but they are vastly outweighed by the pros.
- The bag it heavy. When you get this level of focus on durability, and function you are inevitably going to add some weight.
- The second Con is that you can't detach the scabbard from the pack and still wear the pack. The whole pack frame system is attached to the scabbard. But to be honest IMHO it is 100% worth it. And its designed to be a pack that carries a rifle so if that bothers me its my own damn fault.

I recommend it to everyone I can.

PRS match and range bag.

This was a huge upgrade in bags. The biggest reason I was looking to make a change was comfort as my prior range/match bag was too short an deep and put weight high and back. The load ride with the phantom is light years better even adding the weight of a match rifle.

The other main thing I wanted were full zip duffle access to the main compartment. The big bonus items to this bag for me are: love the scabbard for hands free gear carry, main compartment divider internal molly and pockets, side carry handles, modular design, size of scabbard to fit a rifle with vertical grip and big bell optic, super comfortable straps.

The one thing that the jury’s still out on is the long side pockets. The down side is you have to dig for stuff if you are putting smaller items there. Positive side is a triple pull ckye pod fits really well. Don’t know if I would ever carry two water bladders so not sure about weight distribution balance with only one side full.

Awesome

I have wanted an Eberlestock pack for at least a decade. But I never had the opportunity to actually purchase one. I especially wanted the scabbard capable pack. Seeing this on outlet prompted me to go on and buy it. Hopefully one day I'll be able to put it through its paces, but for now it is my hunting pack, and will be a huge improvement to my gear.

What can I say? This thing is worth the money. Versatile and perfect for roughing it in the wilderness for a week or two. This thing is also nearly indestructible.

We trust this pack enough to buy again

This is not our first Eberlestock purchase. We have already bought Eberlestock packs for Israeli soldiers, and the feedback from the field has been excellent.

The Phantom is a well-built, compact sniper/field pack with a serious design for carrying a rifle and essential equipment. It is smaller than the G4 Operator, but that can be an advantage when a soldier needs a more compact setup and does not want to carry unnecessary volume.

The quality, materials, and overall construction feel reliable. Based on our previous experience and field feedback, we continue choosing Eberlestock because the soldiers trust this gear.

Reliable gear we keep coming back to

We have purchased Eberlestock packs before for Israeli soldiers, and the feedback from the field has been very positive. The quality, design, and reliability are exactly why we decided to buy again.

The Phantom in Military Green is a serious and well-built pack for carrying a rifle and essential field gear. It is more compact than the G4 Operator, but still feels like a purpose-built sniper/field pack. For soldiers who need reliable equipment in real field conditions, this is a very strong option.

We are buying Eberlestock again because the previous experience and feedback were excellent.

Wow!!!

I tend to be pretty critical of the design and execution of outdoor gear. So on the rare occasions when I’m 360-degree satisfied, or impressed, by facets related to build quality, sensible design - heck even the “cool factor” - it’s worthy of a celebration. Moreover, when I’m able to find gear of the this quality at a reasonable price, I feel like I found a purple unicorn. All this summarizes my thoughts on this backpack.

So far, I’ve used my Phantom pack (which I got at an awesome, sale price here) for some training hikes. The rifle scabbard easily swallows my 16” DMR/MSR and my NRL-style rifle fits equally well with the adjustable top in-place. I love the dufflebag-scale space and the details provided to keep a reasonable degree of organization possible.

When loaded, the pack seems to have a more balanced feel than other packs. It handles the weight easily and has no shortage of adjustments to personalize it to your ever-changing choices of what you wear. The zippers, stitching and fabric are all robust and the multi-cam colors are spot-on; no pink hues like the cheaper stuff.

I’m not a fanboy of Eberlestock but I have to give credit where it's due; this is an excellent pack from every angle. I suppose the worst part of Eberlestock bags is trying to keep yourself to buying just one.

Amazing Pack

I’ve had a number of packs over the years. The Phantom is by far my favorite. Built extremely well, big enough to handle all the equipment and supplies needed for a multi day adventure. The durability is in my opinion the best on the market.
