I've been watching this backpack for awhile and all I can say is damn this thing is the perfect pack (and size)
I've been the complaints about it being made in Vietnam, oh well big whoop. It's sturdy and feels great with everything I need in it. Good job Eberlestock!!

The 3 Hole Loop section is not even and I can see the nylon strap underneath it. Does not necessarily affect the function, but for a $300 backpack I expect a little bit more attention to detail.

Bought as an every day bag that I can also take to the range and train with, two hikes and one range day, I can say it’s decent. Doesn’t make my arms numb like some bags and overall very comfy. As with any new piece of kit it takes use and time to configure and figure out if/where it fits.

I am amazed it can hold my piston rifles folded pretty well. Picture is of a 16inch scar17 with a 4.5-27 optic folded with extra gear in the romad. My 10.5 jakl15 fits perfectly folded with no barrel sticking out.

Still feel it is extremely pricey for a backpack but you pay for quality, warranty and customer service so if it lasts me 5+ it’ll be worth it.

Bought the romad to replace my EDC bandit pack with something a little larger in volume. It is a little disappointing to see the traditional ladder harness system missing from this pack while being at a higher price point, but in practice the two packs ride very similar with weight, and for a 20ish liter pack it is not the end of the world. What I do like a lot about this pack over something like the bandit is that it just works, no compression straps to undo, no load panels to fling around, the beavertail on the bandit whilst great for a jacket or similar, becomes too much of a weighted anchor once you start adding molle pouches externally, the external pockets on the romad on the other hand are not too big or small, and fits most edc shaped items with ease. One thing that I did find strange is the small opening for the hydration bladder chamber, I do echo the same sentiment as many people in that it can definitely be redesign to accommodate a wider range of bladder sizes.

As a pack designed primarily for JTAC operators and radio equipment I am definitely not expecting it to become the next best EDC pack or function as a daily laptop pack.
Overall a great pack that I think functions similar in philosophy to the brute series, a great out of the box pack with a solid edc volume and straight forward organizational pockets.

First off, I’m an Eberlestock enthusiast with two packs, two slings, and several other items that I truly appreciate.

As a hiker covering various distances, I had high hopes that the ROMAD would replace my Bandit pack. While I love the Bandit, its size can sometimes be limiting, though perfect at other times. I was looking for a pack around 25L that retained much of the Bandit's features but offered improved pocketing inside and out. The ROMAD seemed to fit that description.

After reviewing videos and photos online, the ROMAD does seem smaller than the listed 25L capacity. It occupies the space of 25L, but you don’t get to fully utilize all of it. It packs more like 20L

The pocketing on this bag is excellent, both inside and out. The zippers, pouches, and overall design meet the high standards expected from Eberlestock.

However, I’m returning the ROMAD.

Where did it fall short? The harness. I’m puzzled why Eberlestock didn’t use their usual adjustable harness system, especially given the pack’s price point, which suggests premium features.

My issues with the harness are:

The yoke is narrow. The space between the left and right shoulder straps is only 3.5 inches wide. In comparison, the adjustable harness on my Bandit is nearly 5.5 inches wide, and my Switchblade measures 6.3 inches at the yoke.

The shoulder harness starts at the top of the pack, causing the pack to ride very high. This design with the narrow yoke forces the straps to come over the shoulders at a slightly awkward angle.

The sternum strap lacks elastic relief, which is surprising considering the weight this pack is designed to carry.

Adjusting the sternum strap vertically along the harness is very difficult. It uses a ladder rack system, and the laser-cut MOLLE over the ladder complicates adjustments. I adjust my sternum depending on the load, the clothing, and if I’m wearing a chest rig. This system you have to have the pack off and takes more effort than it should.

I did get the pack to fit me well enough. The sternum strap issues still really bothered me.

Additional notes:

The water bottle pockets are slightly smaller than those on the Bandit, which is noticeable.

The bladder opening is too tight, limiting the use of that space for other flat items. - I did not try a bladder in it, but I would guess it too is hard to get in.

The interior back wall is nice but the velcro on the molle is not enough to hold on to items well. I also believe there should be one more column of molle on the backwall, making it an odd number. So, you can center items. As it is now with an even number you are off to one side if you attach something wider than a single row. The pack needs to be 3” wider.

I appreciate the inclusion of extra zipper pulls to replace the larger pulls on the top of the bag if you’re not using the antenna zippers.

If I could redesign this pack, I would:

Use the standard adjustable harness system.

Make the pack 3 inches wider to improve the bladder opening and molle inside.

Rework the top of the pack to reduce zipper crowding, possibly helped by the extra width.

Maybe the water bladder should have been a heavy velcro flap rather than another bank of zippers.

The build quality is as expected from Eberlestock, but some design choices didn’t work for me.

If I didn’t have the Bandit, I might have kept it. For me, it just doesn’t beat the Bandit clearly enough to keep it.

I bought this pack with the intention of putting an amateur radio transceiver in it. I have yet to do that because I’m waiting on a radio pouch to ship. It should comfortably hold any mobile size radio. I’ll be using a Yaesu 891. The water bottle pockets on both sides are very convenient. Alternatively, they can be used to hold a collapsible antenna mast. Just use shock cord on the MOLLE for a secure fit. The internal MOLLE is very useful. There is ample storage for comms gear. The pack feels comfortable but I haven’t fully loaded it yet. This pack is very streamlined, not too bulky. Overall, this will be my favorite pack for comms. It would also be great for EDC. Still loading the bag up for a first ruck. Got my 857D strapped in nicely. The bag does feel quality. I would have liked more pass through holes from compartment to compartment being a radio bag. I’m sure this will be a fine back for years to come.
Now, I say this bag is overpriced at the 300 dollar mark to hit my door. This bag is not made in the USA. For the price, and the company story, I would have assumed it was. You can find 30 dollar packs from China that would do the “job” of this bag without any fluff in there story. Do your research.

Between this brand and mystery ranch I wanted a daybag that was capable and highly modular. The Romad won, it has great construction overall and plenty more MOLLE loops. The size is slightly under-utilized on the interior side compartments but makes up for it with the two protruding exterior pockets. It serves well in weight distribution on the shoulders and while I was weary of the carry handle being so dainty, it has proved very tough.

So far not bad. I had a bunch of their other bags. This one is definitely designed for the coms system. But I had other plans to edc it. I chose this bag due to the size and the amount of customization I can do with the bag instead of some of the others. Bag is comfortable like the others. Sits a tad higher on the back. Not bad or anything. Just the other bags I can adjust the fit a little better. But for now it’s my new edc bag. I would recommend it if you know what your plans are with the bag. If you don’t know what you’re doing with it then go a different route.

It is very roomy fits larger items and the front pockets are very useful for easy access. Would definitely recommend!

If you’re going for a short hike or out for the day, good size bag or if you’re looking for a bag for your radio

Excellent backpack

This is just about the quintessential carry on bag for me. It could be just a tad larger perhaps. But that would just mean I’d bring more stuff I probably don’t need. I own a dozen or so Eberlestock bags. I use them all for varying tasks. Top notch quality construction. Functional as hell. You seriously can’t go wrong w any of their bags. Find what you need and order 2!!!! You’ll want to share w your best buddy. And he will be grateful!

I purchased another pack from Eberlestock as my EDC. It carries my laptop and other work-related items. The pack was designed to carry coms, but it works well for my needs. I did need to get creative when it came to carry my pistol. I've found a solution that works for me. Quality as always, perfect size and comfortable to carry.

Exactly what i was looking for to carry my HF radio into the field

I bought the Romad to replace an old Camelbak bag that had been worn out after years of use. When I say that the Romad tops it in every way, I mean it. It's light enough to not kill my back as an everyday carry, and solid enough to survive work use. I stuffed it with my typical load out, and still had room for more.

I highly doubt that I'll be needing another one any time in the near future, but if/when I do, I'll definitely get another.

Awesome pack! Plenty of space, plenty of zippers, made if good mayerials, and some hook and loop and molle inside pockets for attachments. Hydration bladder pocket is well protected. Overall a perfect small pack.

Love this bag for work. Carries my 15" laptop, tablet, cords and all daily needs no problem. In a nice small package that isn't too big to bring with me.

It is a really great radio/comms bag with great detail and quality put into the layout, design and material. However, radio pouch options would be the icing on the cake. I know each branch has their own radios although nearly same dimensions and civilians are buying this great bag for the vast radio types available but having the option to add a specific inner radio back like shown in the various videos of the 117G. I don't want to have to go out to another company for that pouch or retaining system, makes me pay more in shipping for one.

In the future, maybe having an expansion element to give a little more room to the bag for additional comms like a tablet/laptop to fit inside, not everything high speed is done on EUD/phone.

Probably one of the best Packs I ever owned.

I waited to for the multicam to comeback into stock because I had a plan to use this as a radio pack as well as a minimal gear pack. But the Romad pack didn't come with the radio pouch I needed to use this pack in a way I intended to use it. So I'm disappointed with this purchase and to purchase a aftermarket will cost me a additional $115.00 for the price I paid it should've been included.

I have one for edc and one for the gym. Awesome product
