You need a merino. You're buying it from Eberlestock this time.

Lochsa 180 Hoody gets all the stars. I'm not here to make an argument for what the best merino in space is - there's plenty of great contenders that are just as good, at the same price point - First Lite, Stone Glacier, etc. What I will argue for is throwing support for Eberlestock. This hoody has incredible fitment. I'm your average athletic male fit; 5'11" (6'0" with good posture), 180lbs, hiker + lifter + bowhunter. A Medium fits me in all the best ways - form fitting across the chest and biceps, slightly loose around forearms and abdomen, long enough to leave untucked. Merino is top quality. I've washed it 3 times, worn it underneath my mid layer at least 8 times, and worn it solo under a 60lb pack on 4 treks. Pilling has barely started (which I would expect from any merino by now). Laundering care has strictly been carried out with Nikwax Wool, delicate/cold/low spin, air dry on a rack. Just buy the damn shirt. You won't be disappointed.

Gonna need a few more

Perfect piece. In the lightweight 180 weight, this is so versatile. I've worn it in warm weather and it actually feels like it has a cooling effect. This will be my base layer in the fall with warm days and cooler nights. Merino is just great--less stink compared to synthetic, stays warm when wet, and breathes. The hoody has a great fit: a little extra length in the sleeves and some stretch in the fabric. I do wonder how durable it will be in the long run. It's so comfortable I'm tempted to wear it everyday but it's not really made to stand up to construction and farm work. Will be getting more and probably trying the long and short sleeve versions as well since this one rules.

Awesome

These are absolutely awesome. Very lightweight, the stitching is very comfortable, no pinch points or itchy areas. The GSM is just right for a 32° and up range. I will probably buy another set of the heavier to cover a deeper temperature range. Wouldn’t change a thing.

Stellar product

Best material and fit I have ever come across.

Lochsa Merino Hoody

The Lochsa Hoody is very comfortable and nice base layer. My only issue is with the left wrist thumb hole which is oddly stitched so the hole appears on top part of wrist vs underneath and no matter how you try and adjust the sleeve, it just stays the same. Customer service said it was how they were made during this batch so until a new production run they are all stitched same way.

Outstanding All Around

Hoodie fits perfectly. Gives a great balance as a stand alone or as a base layer. Great color. I get tons of compliments also.

Phenomenal product. Used this hoodie on a 50 mile ultra marathon run through the Appalachian mountains where the temperature varied from mid 30s to mid 40s. It kept me warm and dry the entire time. Regulated my body temps and was very comfortable to run in for 9 hours straight. It was itchy my first time trying it on but did not itch after that. I was looking for a 100% wool layer but this was the closest I could find for performance.
