Shocking!!!!

This hoodie is next level, light weight, stretchy, and super comfortable. I wore it on a boat ride for a whale watching excursion and it kept me warm the entire time, and kept me protected from the sun! I’m a true believer!!!!!🔥

Just buy it

First of all, I have not used this for hunting. I bought it specifically as a midweight layering piece for hiking here in the PNW, and it has not disappointed.
We're getting into the colder months here, and I've used it at elevation, including above 7,000 feet. I paired it with the 180 GSM long sleeve, and the combination kept me toasty without getting so warm that I was sweating.
The 300 GSM weight really hits the sweet spot. It's just light enough to work well as a midlayer, but heavy enough that it can also be worn as a standalone piece. I've found it to be a really versatile layer for both hiking and everyday wear.
If you're on the fence about this one, just buy it. You won't regret it.

Love it! But would've like a Large vs medium size.

I love it and it goes well with Eberlestocks 3/4 zip Lochsa 300 Merino bottoms. My only complaint would be that I had to get a medium instead of a large because all their larges were out of stock. :-( Sad face. The medium fits me snug, but the merino wool had good stretch to it which makes it okay. So...if Eberlestock can find a large in FDE, I'd trade you my medium for it. ;-) (wink, wink).

One last observation, since it's a base layer, would have been nice if the torso length was a little longer (for tall guys) so that it would stay tucked into my pants when bending over. Not sure if that's a result of having a medium size and could be fixed with a large size?

Fit & Comfort

Fit, comfort and true to size were my initial review. Next were good looks and quality. The reasons you buy a merino hoody have yet to be determine as it was bought for the upcoming bird and deer season. But it is made by Eberlestock so it should not disappoint.

Surprisingly warm for how light/thin it is

Surprisingly warm for how light/thin it is. Been wearing this as exterior layer in the low 50's and it's been almost too warm at times. Thumb holes are great touch for when I use it as a mid layer. Only thing I'd like to have are pockets for my hands, but otherwise a perfectly warm, comfy and super packable hoody.

Absolutley amazing quality! Fits perfectly and looks great! Have the Lochsa boxer briefs and now this and both have been amazing! If i could afford it i would buy all their Lochsa merino wool products nobody else even comes close! Eberlestock is the only one i could find thats actually 98%+ merino wool and not a 70% polyester blend like most other brands! Thank you!! 🇺🇸🦅🙏🏼

Great kit

I have tons of Eberlestock gear. There wool shirts are amazing. I bought 2x and it has an athletic fit. I’m 6 foot 2in 260 lbs with 51 in chest and it fits nice. I like Eberlestock better than a lot of Arcteryx gear.

Lochsa 300 is good to go

I got this hoodie primarily for trips to Europe. It’s a great base layer with plenty of warmth. Living in the American South, it also provides plenty of flexibility for those in between days in late fall/early spring.

These shirts are great. The wool provides warmth no matter what, and the material is still comfortable and not too bulky.

My all time favorite merino top/base layer

This has always been my favorite premium merino top to wear, mainly by itself. The fit is perfect and has just the right amount of stretch built in to move with you and not bunch up or get uncomfortable. Never has any issue with itching either. The 300 weight merino is perfect as a standalone outer layer for the majority of the season and makes an excellent base layer/insulation under a jacket such as the Alturas. As soon as I saw the discount on these during the 4th of July sale, I snatched up one of each color I didn’t have. I wish Eberlestock made more merino apparel and hunting clothing like they used to. They really do it right and probably my favorite clothing out there.

Good fit

It fits well as a standalone shirt. It won't hug the body too much, concealing anything you might have on the waistline.
